I returned to the U.S and I decided a few weekends after my return I needed to get back to my Southern roots. What better place than to visit one of the most historical southern cities in the U.S (also a couple of friends live here).
This is where the Civil War began. A war with many names, but its most popular is the Civil War.
To arrive at the site you have to take a ferry around the harbor which is about a 30 minute ride and you walk around the site for about an hour. It is expensive… over $20.00 a person. However, you get a tour of the harbor, walk around the Fort and learn a little bit about the events leading up to the war.
Additionally, there is only one tour that will take you to the site. So, it does have a bit of a monopoly.
The battery
